Chikungunya : Things to know

Chikungunya is  one of the disease caused by mosquitoes and it’s a viral infection. The word ‘Chikungunya’ comes from Tanzania which means "that which bends up". This disease can be found mainly in Africa and Asia. Though in Caribbean also first case of Chikungunya has been found this year.

Slow moving and stagnant water ,open gutters are major mosquito breeding sites. A  female mosquito tiger causes a Chikungunya and Dengue.Usually these mosquito bites in a day time that is morning to evening. • Make sure your children would wear full sleeves clothes.
